Poncho's Wreck Restaurant - Mount Snow Dining
Poncho's has been a landmark here on South Main Street since 1972.
The building was a former rooming house for skiers and was called the
1854 House; yes, it is that old. The founder, "Poncho" a.k.a. Ken Cummings,
the only Irish/Mexican in the State of Vermont had an idea for a Mexican &
Seafood Restaurant in of all places Wilmington, Vermont. I don't have to
tell you that The Valley was a different place then, but then again we
all look a little different now, 28 years later.
The building has taken on some transformations from just being a restaurant
on the first floor to opening the second floor in 1978. In recent years, the bar
areas have been remodeled. Look for the original sign hanging downstairs by the bar.
In 1993, Poncho unexpectedly passed away. These days you'll still find his
family at the helm. Poncho's Fish Market moved across the street to 9 South
Main Street this past summer into more spacious and visible accommodations.
One Chelsea Place d.b.a. the Anchor Seafood Restaurant is celebrating it's fifth
year in business. Wendy and Mark's business; High Country Snowmobiles & Wave Runner
Rentals has been expanding as well. As of this winter, they will be offering tours
from Mt. Snow as well as their Searsburg cabin location.
On behalf of the whole family; Wendy, Mark & children - Cody & Lars, Sheryll
and her Maine contingent, Chelsea and myself, I want to thank all our staff,
customers and friends for their trust, dedication and loyalty bestowed
upon all of us for these many years.
