Nine Country Style furnished guest rooms welcome travellers all year around.
Our Inn is a handsome colonial structure dating back to 1894. The mansion was built
by Joseph Courtemanche, a local blacksmith and carriagemaker who made his fortune as
the visionary who built the first electric power plant in the valley. (A local story has
it that Mr. Courtemanche, feeling that "early to bed, early to rise" was a sound idea,
used to turn off the power plant at precisely 10 PM... leaving everyone in the village
with no choice but to go to bed early!)
The main house has tall ceilings and a lovely living room with fireplace and conversation
areas. Off of the living room is the Cocktail Bar with its original tin ceiling,
the Morrow Cartoon room and the Restaurant which is open to Inn guests and the public
for Dinner on Thursday thru Sunday
Located just behind the Inn is the Carriage House of the same vintage.
It has been recently renovated to welcome visitors with its three Guest rooms &
Suite which features a fireplace, cable TV and 2-person whirlpool bath with
skylight overhead for star gazing.
We are a Vermont Bed & Breakfast/Country Inn that cares for the discerning traveller,
we offer a comfortable relaxed atmosphere with Fine Dining Restaurant and in-house massage
services. So treat yourselves to great food and a quiet, rejuvenating weekend. Come on,
you will really appreciate it!
We have a fully licensed Cocktail Bar for your favourite tipple from all over the world.
Guestrooms are decorated individually with antiques, country furnishings,
and a splash of the innkeepers' travels & English heritage. All rooms have private bathrooms.
You'll feel "at home" from the moment you arrive.
Our goal is to be sure you're perfectly rested and renewed when you depart. Our full country breakfast is included in the tariff.
Our Chef has assumed operations of the Fine Dining Restaurant and his classic
cuisine will now please all the senses in the beautiful setting of this historic
New England Inn. This hybrid cuisine is creative and eclectic, a blend of the
classic and the contemporary, with each dish being prepared from the finest fresh
ingredients.
The beautiful country elegance and hospitality of The Red Shutter Inn plus the

Our Restaurant has a modern country cuisine and is a blend of the classic and the
contemporary applied to country fayre. We are proud members of the Vermont Fresh
Network and create menus that constantly change to showcase the finest ingredients
our purveyors can provide us with. We have vegetarian dishes and specials which change
daily plus home-made bread every evening.
