WHITEFACE CHALET - WILMINGTON LODGING & DINING
Take a step off the busy beaten path of 86 and Lake Placid and you will find yourself at the doorstep of the Whiteface Chalet. We are under new ownership and have totally renovated our rooms in the spring of 2005.
The Whiteface Chalet is located in the hamlet of Wilmington, just 9 short miles from Lake Placid and all that the Olympic venues have to offer. Right around the corner is Whiteface Mountain, the Au Sable River, High Falls Gorge and Santa's Workshop.
The Whiteface Chalet provides an ideal "home base" for all your Adirondack activities. In the winter you are just minutes from Whiteface Mountain where they offer skiing and snowboarding. A fifteen minute drive will take you into Lake Placid and the Olympic Center. The Center offers ice skating, luge, toboggan rides, bobsledding, cross country skiing, and special events weekly.
The summer months offer some of the most excellent hiking and fishing in New York State. The Au Sable River has the greatest fly fishing available in the east. It is also the perfect setting for swimming, canoeing, and kayaking. The area abounds with hiking and biking trails. A gondola ride at Whiteface or a trip up Memorial Highway will present you with magnificent views of the surrounding area. Hiking High Falls Gorge and the Au Sable Chasm will give you incredible photo opportunities. After your day's activities you can take a dip in the pool or partake in any of our outdoor games. (shuffleboard, volleyball, horseshoes, basketball or croquet) The front porch provides an entertaining view of the hummingbirds.
In the fall, the foliage is incredible. Spectacular color can be seen right outside the window of your room or the Great Room. Don't forget that some of the best fly fishing is on the Au Sable River in the spring and fall.
We provide an ideal setting for family reunions, class reunions, weddings and small conferences. Our dining room can seat 90 for catered events.
So no matter what time of the year, our newly renovated rooms will afford you with a comfortable stay away from home and a memorable vacation. We look forward to being your hosts and sharing an area that we have come to love, the Adirondack Park, and all it has to offer.
The Whiteface Chalet has all the comforts of home waiting for you all year long. We present a unique atmosphere with the privacy of a hotel but the feeling of a bed & breakfast.
Our spacious deluxe standard rooms were renovated in the spring of 2005. Each is comfortably appointed in an Adirondack style. They have 2 double beds and a double futon. A hickory rocker and small table and chairs make the room a great place to unwind after a long day of hiking, biking, fishing, or skiing. A 24" color TV with cable, phone, small bar sink, and private bath complete the rooms. Each room has two doors that can be accessed from the interior or exterior. The common areas can be reached without having to go outside.
A large picture window provides those on the second floor a great view of Whiteface Mountain during the winter months.
The Chalet offers five other rooms that impart the feeling of a B&B. These rooms can accommodate 2 to 6 people. Three of them have 2 bedrooms with a shared bath.
